✔️ How does Siloflo 8mg Capsule work?

It works by causing muscle relaxation of the prostate gland, part of the urethra inside the prostate, and the lower part of the urinary bladder which results in an improvement in the urine flow in patients with benign prostatic hyperplasia.

✔️ Side Effects of Siloflo 8mg Tablet

Common adverse reactions include retrograde ejaculation, dizziness, diarrhea, orthostatic hypotension, headache, nasopharyngitis, and nasal congestion.

✔️ Quick Suggestions:

• Silodosin helps in relieving the symptoms of an enlarged prostate. It does not decrease the size of the prostate.
• Urinate as soon as you feel the urge.
• Silodosin must be taken with food.
• You will feel better within hours or days of starting the treatment. The full effect is usually seen within 2 weeks.
• Silodosin may cause dizziness or sleepiness. Do not drive or do anything requiring concentration until you know how it affects you.
• If you are scheduled to undergo eye surgery due to cataracts or glaucoma, inform your eye doctor about the usage of Silodosin.

✔️ Pharmacology

 Silodosin selectively antagonizes post-synaptic alpha-1 adrenoreceptors in the prostate, bladder base, bladder neck, prostatic capsule, and prostatic urethra, leading to smooth muscle relaxation and improved urine flow.

✔️ Dosage & Administration:

• Standard Dose: 8 mg orally once daily with a meal.
• Moderate Renal Impairment: 4 mg orally once daily with a meal.
• Geriatric Patients: No significant differences in safety or effectiveness; orthostatic hypotension observed more frequently in older patients.
• Renal Impairment: Contraindicated in severe impairment; dose adjustment needed for moderate impairment.
• Hepatic Impairment: Contraindicated in severe impairment; no adjustment needed for mild to moderate impairment.

✔️ Interaction

Caution with strong P-glycoprotein inhibitors (e.g., cyclosporine) and PDE5 inhibitors, which may cause symptomatic hypotension.

✔️ Contraindications

• Severe Renal & Hepatic Impairment: Not recommended.
• Strong CYP3A4 Inhibitors: Avoid use with drugs like ketoconazole, clarithromycin, itraconazole, and ritonavir.
• Hypersensitivity: Not for patients with known hypersensitivity to Silodosin.

• Pregnancy Category B: Not indicated for use in women.
• Animal Studies: No significant teratogenic effects at high doses in animal studies.

✔️ Precautions & Warnings

• Postural Hypotension: May develop when beginning treatment.
• Cataract Surgery: Inform the ophthalmologist of Siloflo use due to the risk of Intraoperative Floppy Iris Syndrome (IFIS).
